Mud Season Review is staffed entirely by volunteer members of the Burlington Writers Workshop (BWW), a free writing workshop for all Vermonters. Founded in 2009, the BWW has drawn more than 600 members, nearly half of whom are actively attending workshops at any given time. Led by organizer Peter Biello, the BWW’s mission is to provide writers with free learning opportunities that help them develop as artists and professional writers.
If you live in Vermont and want to be involved with the ongoing creation of Mud Season Review, attend a workshop and offer feedback on your fellow Vermonters’ stories, novels, poems, memoirs, plays, screenplays and songs.
By joining the BWW you can benefit from:
- as many as five workshops spanning several genres each week in Burlington, with additional workshops in Montpelier
- publishing opportunities in The Best of the Burlington Writers Workshop—the BWW’s annual print anthology that features work written, selected, and edited by Vermont writers—and other venues
- public readings, workshops, and panel discussions with celebrated authors such as Megan Mayhew Bergman, David Budbill, and Jon Clinch
- a community writing space where writers can come to work and share in a quiet and welcoming environment
