Christopher Volpe is a painter working at the border of representation and abstraction. After two decades spent in the pursuit of poetry, a period of teaching art history gradually led him to become a full-time artist and art writer. While painting has replaced poetry as his primary medium, his objective remains the expression of deeply embedded individual and universal experiences of reality. His work has been included in exhibitions at Bowersock Gallery, Provincetown; Trudy Labell Gallery, Naples, Florida; Kennedy Gallery and The Banks Gallery, both in Portsmouth, NH; and the Fitchburg Art Museum.
