Tammy Pieterson

Tammy Pieterson is a 30-year-old South African visual artist, creative writer and photographer. She’s enthusiastic, passionate and bolder than a permanent marker. She uses her work to make sense of a world that often feels like it does not want to be understood. She’s obsessed with sunsets, tattoos and metaphors. She lives hard, and daydreams even harder. To date, her art and poetry has been published in Blue Daisies, Sunday Morning at the River, decurated,
Colortag Magazine, Eclipse Zine, Pile Press, Pulse Magazine, Querencia Press, Talent Spark Magazine and Stuck in Notes to name a few. Instagram: @tammyjpieterson.

Artist Statement: My artwork acts as a language – a form of visual storytelling. A conversation between the artwork, myself and the observer. A collection of intimate experiences, documented and explored through mixed media on canvas, photography and digital abstract works, that give plenty of room for reflection and personal interpretation. Internal conflict, time, memory,
relationships, space and place are amongst the common themes present throughout my work. Creativity allows me to navigate the world and find my place in it. I create, because it burns when I don’t.

A Project of the Burlington Writers Workshop

Mud Season Review is an international literary journal run by members of the Burlington Writers Workshop, a free writing workshop based in Vermont. We seek to celebrate the full process of artistic creation, from inspiration to publication—welcoming into our open and collaborative community wide-ranging voices that tramp and track in the mud of human experience.

Our staff is dedicated to creating a journal that mirrors the openness of these workshops. We aim to publish strong, skillful writing from far and wide. In doing so, we seek to discover voices new to us and new to publication.
