Issue #75

Part of my job as the Editor of the Mud Season Review is to write a letter to our readers with each issue. And with each issue, I continue to be amazed by the work we publish. As we review submissions, we look for work that is original in its approach to content and visual art, teaches us something about life and ourselves, and moves us in some way. This issue, number 75, is no different.

In this issue, we feature fiction by Jon Doughboy, nonfiction by Sarah Harley, and poetry by Danelle Lejeune. Each piece is paired with an art selection, and we highlight the work of Jeff Mann, Beverly Marshall, and Kathy Bruce. Our featured artist is Emma Anna, who sent us an absolutely stunning portfolio.

Publishing a literary journal is a lot of work, and the entire staff of Mud Season Review are volunteers who are also writers with different backgrounds, experiences, world-wide locations, and often hold down full time jobs. They work hard, and this journal wouldn’t be as successful as it is without them. Our genre readers are successful because of the leadership of our editorial staff: Paul Chuks and Megan Harris (senior editors), Ann Fisher and Madeline DeLuca (fiction senior editors) Jonah Meyer (poetry senior editor), Andrew Miller (nonfiction senior editor), Lenore Weiss (nonfiction editor), Michelle Quick (art senior editor), Shalom Kasim (managing editor), and Fabian Aruquipa (copy editor). And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the support of the Burlington Writers Workshop.

Mud Season Review turns ten in 2025, and we have several things planned, so stay tuned.
